Meet Your Editor · Wendy Ogilvie Editorial

A passion for stories A dedication to writers

Hello, I'm Wendy – a professional fiction editor specialising in crime and romance, working with authors throughout the UK and internationally.

I help writers strengthen their story structure, refine narrative flow and prepare their manuscripts for publication while preserving the unique voice that makes their writing their own.

Having begun as a writer and English language and literature tutor, I understand storytelling from both a creative and technical perspective.

Whether you're developing the tension of a mystery or deepening the emotional connection of a romance, my approach is thoughtful, supportive and collaborative.

How It All Began

My journey from writer to editor.

"I began with the dream of becoming the next Jane Austen."

My writing journey began with a course at The Writers Bureau, inspired by a love of literature and the ambition to write novels of my own.

While working on my first two novels, I became fascinated by the editing process. I started studying editorial techniques to strengthen my own writing, discovering how much careful editing could improve a manuscript.

The results encouraged me. When I later shared my manuscript with a professional editor, there were no areas flagged for critique.

I continued my training with the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading and developed the professional skills I now use to help other writers.

Today, I bring together my experience as a writer, tutor and editor to provide constructive, considered feedback that helps authors grow in confidence and develop stronger manuscripts.

My Editorial Philosophy

Supportive editing. Stronger storytelling.

"Editing should feel collaborative, not intimidating."

My role isn't to replace your voice with my own. It's to help you recognise what's working, understand what can be strengthened and move forward with greater confidence.

I believe thoughtful editing should improve both the manuscript and the writer's understanding of their craft.
