For Word Nerds Everywhere

welcome

Hello,

I’m Wendy, a copyeditor and proofreader from Essex in England. Before I became an editor, I was a writer and English tutor, so I know how to make your narrative the best it can be before publishing or seeking representation. My main areas of expertise are romance, thriller/mystery/crime, and non-fiction health and wellness.

I have worked with small publishers, entrepreneurs, public figures, and individuals on everything from eco-thrillers to non-fiction health and wellness books in both print and digital format. I am also a member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP) and abide by their Code of Practice.

Fiction Editing: I started out wanting to be the next Jane Austen and began my writing journey by completing a course with The Writers Bureau. During the process of writing my first two novels, I began studying editing as I discovered that the more I knew how to edit my work, the better my writing became. When I sent off my second novel to an editor for a critique, here’s what she wrote: I want to adopt you or be your new BFF! I love your characters and the story. I know you’ve paid me to analyse your novel but I genuinely have very little to critique…

Learning how to edit and improve my story writing techniques had obviously paid off, and I enjoyed the process so much I kept going. Now I can do the same for your story.

Non-fiction Editing: My experience working in the health and fitness industry for 25 years as a personal trainer, fitness course writer, and course tutor, has enabled me to help authors improve their text to increase website traffic and book sales. My aim when working with you is to ensure your narrative provides the best reader experience while maintaining your voice and style.
